Coffee: Sales Decline 60%

Wednesday, January 2, 2019

Aura Lila Sevilla, president of the National Alliance of Coffee Growers of Nicaragua, explained to Elnuevodiario.com.ni that “… the magnitude of the country’s political and social crisis in the coffee sector has not yet been well estimated. A lot is said about tourism and other sectors, but when we finish this season will see the effects on coffee.

Seville added that “… although the fall in exports is because of the fall in the international price of reddish, this problem is in addition to those of the national coffee harvest. This year, because of lack of financing, we did not fertilize; and we are talking now about a very drastic reduction in the harvest, because we have lower yields.
