Alex Wilson’s 11/14/2017 Update – First Harvest and Sale of Coconuts!

Dear Precious Timber Family,

We are very excited to share with you the very first harvest and sale of coconuts from our farms. Planted beginning October 2014, a handful of early bloomers have produced nuts that have now been purchased by a local business.

This is a milestone for Nicaragua, as we are the only certified organic coconut operation. The harvest came one-year ahead of our projected time horizon, and the local sale enabled us to secure a farm-gate price of $0.50 per nut. This was due to the small quantity both from the sellers side and the buyers purchasing capacity. We do not expect this price once we begin to harvest larger numbers and sell to larger buyers.

Congratulations to plot numbers 204, 205, 206, and 207. These plots are closest to where the seedling nursery was at this farm, and we planted from that point out – which is possibly why these plots enjoyed the earliest production.

The on-site team report another approximate 46 trees bearing nuts so we’ll be harvesting again in the coming weeks and months. We want to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude in your choosing to conduct business with us. Because of you we are able to deliver such exciting news!

We hope to see you this way sometime soon.

Sincerely,
Alex Wilson, for the entire Precious Timber team.
