Guatemala: 3% Increase in Economic Activity

In September, economic activity reported a 3% increase over the same month in 2017, mainly because of the performance of the transport and commerce sector.
The Banco de Guatemala reported that the economic activity measured by the estimation of the IMAE in September 2018, presented a growth rate of 3.0% (2.3% in September 2017).

As a result, the described behavior was influenced by the growth shown by the following economic activities: Transportation, storage and communications; Wholesale and retail trade; Private services; Agriculture, livestock, hunting, silviculture and fishing; and Manufacturing industries.

According to the report of the Central Bank, the cycle-trend series registered a year-on-year growth rate of 3.2%, more dynamic than the observed in the same month of the previous year (2.6%).
