Variation of regional exports 
Between 2015 and 2016 the export value of wood and its manufactures from Central America did not show any significant variations, with $225 million having been exported in 2015 and $223 million in 2016. The export volume did vary, increasing from 629,000 tons in 2015, to 657,000 tons in 2016, representing growth of 4%.

The value exported to India grew by 20%, rising from $38 million in 2015 to $45 million in 2016.

Exports by country 
In 2016, the main exporter was Costa Rica, with $65 million, followed by Honduras, with $60 million, Guatemala, with $53 million, Panama, with $35 million, Nicaragua, with $7 million and El Salvador, with $4 million.

Destination of exports
In 2016, 25% of the value exported from the region went to the USA, 20% to India, 8% to China and 6% to Singapore.

India is the destination country for Central American exports that has grown the most in the last 3 years.  In 2014 it represented 15% of the total export value, and in 2016 the figure reached 20%.  

Observation:
This analysis took into account raw wood, sawn wood, veneered wood, plywood, stratified wood, boards, firewood, barrels, crates, pallets, loading platforms, sleepers and other similar items. Charcoal was not included in the report.
